RALEIGH - Several apartments were heavily damaged at a three-alarm fire in southwest Raleigh, N.C. on Sunday night.

The Raleigh Fire Department was dispatched to the Wildwoods of Lake Johnson apartments at 1201 Trillium Circle about 10:40 p.m. First-arriving Engine 8 found heavy fire in the rear of a three-story, twelve-unit, wood-frame apartment building.

Battalion 3 established command in the front of the structure and directed defensive operations. Ladder 20 was positioned in the front right of the structure and utilized as an aerial stream. Apparatus staged on Wood Aisle Road. Six units were heavily damaged.

No injuries were reported and 21 residents were displaced.

The blaze apparently started in a second-floor exterior storage closet.

Companies remained on the scene into the next day.
