Two FDNY Firefighters Injured in Queens Blaze

NEW YORK -- One firefighter rescued another from a blazing second-alarm fire in the Richmond Hill section of Queens.

Eyewitness News is told the firefighters briefly became trapped by flames inside the house at 87-35 114th Street just before 3:45 a.m. this morning.

One firefighter reportedly, pulled a second out of the house to safety by yanking him out of a second-floor window.

One was taken to the burn unit at Cornell Medical Center and the other was taken to Jamaica Hospital. Both of their injuries were serious, but not life threatening, officials say.

The resident of the house, a man in his 70s, escaped with minor injuries.

Firefighters were hampered by a large amount of debris packed from the floor to the ceiling inside the house. There were several cats also in the house that are unaccounted for, fire official say.

It took an hour to get the fire under control. The cause is under investigation.
