GROVE CITY, Pa. --

A woman was killed and two volunteer firefighters were injured battling a structure fire in Grove City Friday morning.

The Mercer County Coroner identified the fire victim as 44-year-old Patricia Andrews-Smith.

A 21-year-old firefighter was flown by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Mercy with second-degree burns over 50 percent of his body. A 27-year-old firefighter was also injured but the extent of injuries is not known. Both firefighters are from Pine Township. Their names have not been released.

Four fire companies were called to the scene after the fire started around 7 a.m. in a house along Garden Avenue, near Route 208.

Witnesses told Channel 11's Amy Marcinkiewicz they heard snap, crackle and pop before the fire started. Dominion Peoples Gas crews were at the scene.

The cause of the fire is not known. But officials said there was no explosion and it was not gas related.
