Two United States fire departments are $2 million richer after the latest round of Assistance to Firefighters Grants were announced today.

Departments in Walton County, Fla. and Bryan County, Ga. received $1 million each.

Both departments will use the funds to upgrade their communications systems.

The money is distributed through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency. The AFG has been in existence since 2001, helping firefighters and other first responders get much-needed equipment, gear, vehicles and training.
