Wareham Fire Department proudly protects an average of 35849 people living in an area of approx 35 square miles. We operate out of 4 stations that protect a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid on call status. Wareham, also known as the Gateway to Cape Cod, is a seaside town with almost 54 miles of coastline. We have a mix of residential, commercial, and agricultural properties throughout the community, including 2 industrial parks. It also contains one railroad system and 5 major roads running through it: Interstate 495, Interstate 195, Route 25, Route 28 and Route 6. Wareham EMS is provided by a town run EMS system utilizing a 24 hour ALS ambulance and an on-call backup ambulance. Wareham can boast ownership of several well known golf courses. The major local business is growing and processing cranberries.
