About Grand Traverse Metro Bat 11:
Grand Traverse Metro Battalion 11 proudly protects 17000 people living in an area of 32 square miles. We operate out of one stations that protect a primarily commercial area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a paid on call status. BATTALION 11 RESPONDED TO 1,409 CALLS IN 2001. THIS IS MADE UP OF 45% FIRE AND 55% EMS. OUR FIRE DISTRICT IS MADE UP OF COMMERCIAL, INDUSTRIAL AND RESIDENTIAL. OUR POPULATION DURING THE WEEK GOES FROM 17,000 TO 50,000 DURING THE DAY. WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF LOWERING OUR ISO RATING. WE HOPE TO TEST OUT BY 2003. WE ARE AIMING AT A RATING OF 1 BUT WOULD WELCOME A 3.
