New Salem Fire Department proudly protects 800 people living in an area of 58.75 square miles. We operate out of 2 stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. The New Salem Fire Department proudly serves the residents of New Salem, a community in the North Central part of Massachusetts. We have 20 active members. The department has Medical First Responders and they are all Semi Automatic Defibrilator certified. We provide and receive mutual aid through Tri-State Mutual Aid .
