Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. The Hawleyville Volunteer Fire Company was incorporated in 1926 and is one of 5 fire companies serving 65 square miles in the Town of Newtown. We respond to calls in our district as well as mutual aid calls to adjoining districts and towns. At a minimum, members are required to sucessfully complete FFI training and receive State of Connecticut certification. Several members are MRT-D, EMT-D, or EMT-I certified and respond to EMS calls jointly with the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps. We also carry a Defibrillator on our Rescue, Truck 334.
