Seven paid members and five volunteers operating two pumpers and a 100' aerial Ladder. Protecting 6,400 residents, college students and visitors in a town previously bustling with railroad and steel manufacturing industries. The community is moving in a direction of advanced medical technology, largely, in part, due to a local affililation with the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). Higher education is offered through Thiel College, a small private liberal arts college which continues to grow in enrollment and facilities. Our population is growing older and senior citizen housing is becoming more prevelant inluding a 9-story senior citizens apartment building. Our central business district includes buildings constructed in pre-1900. We have an ISO protection class rating of class 5. The paid firefighters are affiliated with the IAFF as Local 1976 and the volunteers are memebers of the Greenville Volunteer Fire Company. The International Fire Code is enforced under Borough Ordinance and Pennsylvania Commonwealth law. We answer an average 740 alarms a year.
