We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. Gate City Fire Department is a small rural department in the mountains of Southwest Virginia. We are supported by donations from the town of Gate City and from Scott County. Other donations are collected through door to door fundraisers in the Spring. We also have bingo on Mondays. We are an incorporated fire department, with our board of directors being made up of our officers. That way, we have the freedom and flexibility to get our jobs done without all the red tape.
