About Skyline Fire Protection District:
The Skyline Fire Protection District is located on the western edge of Arapahoe County surrounded by Denver County. Our district consists of one square mile of single-family homes, commercial businesses, several churches and two Cherry Creek elementary schools. Our members consist of both paid and volunteer firefighters responding to approximately 180 calls for service per year, most of which are medical calls. The medical transports from our district are handled by Cunningham Fire/Rescue and Action Care Ambulance through mutual aid contracts with the Skyline Fire District. We respond to many types of emergencies ranging from medical calls to structure fires and Hazardous Materials calls. We also conduct Fire Safety Education seminars at the schools using our fire dog Jake. Jake has been taught how to crawl low in smoke, stop, drop and roll and how to check a door for heat. He is a well loved member of our team.
Our department members are a diverse team of Firefighters, First Responders, Emergency Medical Technicians and Hazardous Material Operations personnel. Our staffing includes a full time Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief that work Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm. Our volunteers respond on all calls via pager notification 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Our members attend three trainings a month, all on Tuesday nights with topics consisting of Medical and Firefighting skills. We operate two Class A Engines from our station on East Yale Avenue.
