About Hardeman County Rescue Squad:
HARDEMAN COUNTY RESCUE SQUAD proudly protects 28000 people living in an area of the 4th largest county in the state Approximatly 700 square miles. We operate out of 3 stations that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. In 1982 we were founded as the Hardeman County Rescue Service. At that time we performed vehicle extrication. Until that point, a patient trapped in a vehicle would have to wait on the jaws of life to arrive from a neighboring county or have their car pulled apart by a wrecker. Later we changed our name to the Hardeman County Rescue Squad. We were chartered with the State through TN Association of Rescue Squads (TARS) in 1988. We are an all volunteer organization. On call 24 hours a day. We receive no pay for our service. We preform vehicle extrication, land & water search, assist EMS with patient care, assist with disasters, and educate the public on a wide variety of topics including, but not limited to, the hazards of drinking and driving. We are the ONLY agency in our county that performs extrications and missing persons searches. All of our equipment is paid for. We do not owe for anything thanks to a very generous public. We hold meetings on the first and third Wednesday each month. We hold a training session each month on a variety of topics (time and date available 2-3 months in advance).
