We operate out of 1 station that protects a primarily rural area. . Our department is a publicly owned fire department whose members serve as volunteer status however the members do receive a small stipend of $12.00 for responding to calls to offset fuel,etc.. Our fire department was created in early 1965 when the Town of Auburndale and the Village of Auburndale decided to combine fire fighting equipment and resources that the Village of Auburndale Fire Department owned along with some addtional equipment purchased by the Township to form one jointly owned fire department. . The department currently has 28 members which 3 are EMT's and 12 are first responder level and the remaining members have Healthcare Provider level CPR and First Aid training completed annually. . In 1995 the fire department's 9 trained First Responders/EMT's began responding to all medical calls and accidents. Prior to this date our department only provided medical care at accidents, and the care provided was at various levels depending on the training of our members that responded to the calls. Currently our department first responders have a full array of medical equipment that normally is carried on ambulances to include defibrillator available to provide the highest quality care until the ambulance arrives on scene.
