About Arrington Volunteer Fire Department:
Arrington Volunteer Fire Department proudly protects 4800 people living in an area of 48 square miles. We operate out of one station that protect a primarily rural area. Our department is a public department whose members are on a volunteer status. The Arrington Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1988. We went in service on December 21, 1989. At this time, we have 35 active members. We provide first responder service to our district as well as the traditional services provided by a fire department. Annually, the department will send at least 5 members to the National Fire Academy during the Tennessee Weekend in November. We operate 2 pumper/tankers, one 75' aerial platform and one brush/first response/CAFS vehicle. The brush/first response vehicle is on a 4-door Hummer chassis, and has a Compressed Air Foam System that can either provide up to 2,000 gallons of CAF or fill 55 SCBA tanks. The Hummer is also equipped with EMT level first response gear, backboard, and automatic defibrillator for first response. The multi-purpose vehicle serves as a brush truck, breathing air supply, EMS response, compressed air foam unit, carries four persons, and will go almost anywhere. The Department recently purchased a 1971 Mack Aerialscope by Baker from South Burlington, Vermont. This apparatus features a 75 foot boom with a platform and a 1000 lbs platform load. This unit will be in service soon and should enhance the department's firefighting capabilities.
