Three Killed in Oklahoma House Fire

RINGLING, Okla. --

Two teenage girls were among three people killed in a house fire in Ringling early Monday, fire officials say.

Fire officials believe Kaley Frasier, 13, and Megan Frasier, 15, were sleeping together in a bed and never awakened.

A 47-year-old cousin was also in the house, and it appears he tried to escape but was overcome by smoke, fire officials said.

The girls' mother was able to escape.

The state fire marshal said the family was using space heaters, an electric oven and an electric stove for heat. Fire crews at the scene did not recover any smoke detectors.

Investigators said natural gas had been turned off at the home for the past six months.

Cousin Lisa Chastain said the girls were quiet but on the verge of becoming women.

"One was quiet, and the other liked cheer," Chastain said. "I will miss them very much."

Fire officials said six people have died in house fires across Oklahoma during the past week. Firefighters stress that people should not heat their homes with a stove or oven and that if a space heater is used, it should be plugged in directly to the wall.
