Funeral services have been set for a Texas firefighter who collapsed and died Monday just hours after responding to a brush fire.

Dale Wayne Grider, 36, of DeKalb, Texas, collapsed of an apparent heart attack while en route to a fire department training session Monday evening.

Members pulled over, and immediately initiated CPR on their friend. However, their efforts were fruitless. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.

Grider had assisted at a fire earlier in the day.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Word of Faith Church, Simms, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the church. Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery, New Boston.
