DETROIT, Mich. --

Eleven fire companies and one medic were called to a two-alarm fire at an abandoned building on Warren Avenue in Detroit early Thursday morning.

It happened on the city's west side at an empty strip mall near the intersection of West Warren Aveneue and Westwood Road.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries, but continued to keep battling the flames.

Witnesses say they saw someone in a car throw an object into the building before it caught fire.

The investigation is ongoing and the cause is not yet known.
