The USFA has reported the on duty death of Birmingham, Ala. Fire and Rescue Training Captain Joseph R. Mixon.

Capt. Mixon was on duty the morning of Monday, May 12 when he took ill and left for home at approximately 12:30 p.m.

He then went to the doctor with upper respiratory-type symptoms and after being examined returned to his residence.

Capt. Mixon suffered a CVA at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 13 and was transported to a hospital where he passed away later in the day.
