Power Lines Fall on Ohio Construction Truck

A workday got off to a bad start for a local construction driver after his truck got tangled in a live power line, trapping him inside for almost 20 minutes on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened near the intersection of James H. McGee Boulevard and West Third Street.

Police said the driver of a large construction dump truck pulled into a local business and left around 7 a.m. Darkness prevented him from seeing a pole that held low-hanging power lines .

The driver was forced to stay inside his truck after live power lines toppled onto his truck. Firefighters arrived, blocked the intersection and then called Dayton Power and Light.

Power crews arrived and identified that the wire was a secondary voltage line and was able to restring it to its proper height without having to shut down power to the area.

Investigators said the driver of the truck did the right thing by staying inside the cab of his truck.
